The first cruise of the year

Wihu,
we were lucky to make a little trip in Aura today. Many of the recent days have been spent on preparing the boat for sailing again. It might seem a little peculiar but it has been a goal it self to make Aura look like a saling boat after hibernation for several month. It has been a challange to make everything correct and in the right order with mast, screws, wires etc. (especially for Martin, I’ve mainly been occupied with cleaning the boat inside).

Sunset in Hundige habour

This picture shows Hundige habour Good Friday night. We accurate finished application of the genua (headsail) and the bimini (sun sail in the cockpit). We’d worked about 10 hours at the boat that day what might explain why our sleep was undisturbed for many hours afterwards 🙂 The first tour of the year turned out to be a little trip in Køge bay (East Zealand, Denmark), and we sailed  for about 2 hours. First we put on the main sail and feared that something would go wrong (this tour would show if we had done something wrong about the setting), but actually we had a nice experience about this 35 square meter big sail. We only tried the headsail for a short time because we hadn’t tightened some of the wires in the mast sufficient. Therefore we decided to sail with the main sail alone which was quiet nice.

Today we also tried our new sailing cloths! We were both quiet excited about this part too, because we’ll use this for a long time in the next year. The cloths were great with many fine details, but we need a little more underwear under the jacket next time 🙂
